Alluri Sitaramaraju led the Rampa Rebellion which was launched in 1922.

He was referred as Manyam Veerudu i.e., Hero of Jungle by locals.

The British government brought Madras Forest Act preventing Adivasis from cultivating in forests which they were doing from generations together, without disturbing the ecosystem by  cultivating in small forest lands in forest.

Basically  the changes meant that, they (the adivasis) face starvation which automatically  make them engage in any kind of job for their liveluhood and survival forcing  them to engage in arduous and exploitable laborious system, which was used by government and contractors for road construction etc.,

The inhuman attitude of Britishers flared up resent and descent in innocent advasis.

Quiet perturbed by the plight of adivasis Alluri seetaramaraju decided to stand by them to fight against draculan law .

His concern for poor, deprived classes and his humanity , simple living attracted so many, made him hero of (Manyam) Forest.

In the backdrop of, widespread discontent  towards British colonial Rule  and start of non cooperation  movement, He lead the troops .

During this raids he used to target police stations and acquired fire arms and ammunition  and weaponry.

Revolutionary freedom fighter, Alluri Sitaramaraju , gave sleepless nights to British Raj . The unparalleled courage and effort created jitters in british police and Army cadres. His guerrilla  war between  1922 to 1924 has lead to  most intense war which can be measured with the fact that British Government had spent 40 laks in those days to defeat  Rampa rebellion.

At 27 years, Sitarama Raju became a martyr falling to the British bullets.

In 1924, he was trapped in koyyuru village of chintapalli forests. He was captured, tied to a tree and summarily  executed by firing .
